My approach is client-centered, which means it’s all about you. I do not have a preconceived agenda or formula. I will listen to your concerns and ask you what your goals are, and we’ll start there. If you aren’t even sure about your goals, that’s ok too, we’ll work together to sort things out. My approach is warm, caring and genuine. I will not give pat answers or advice. You probably have already heard them all. Instead, I will work with you to look at what needs to change and provide support as you work on those changes. We will work together as you work on the issues that brought you here.
I have experience with many areas of concern, such as depression, stress, family issues, coping with health issues, abuse and trauma, grief and loss. I have a vast background in child mental health and working/consulting with parents who seek help with parenting. I love to work with young children!
I graduated from University of Michigan with a Degree in Nursing. In my nursing career I worked primarily in Oncology and Hospice, where I learned to walk side by side with families in some of their most difficult moments. From that experience I realized I wanted to pursue a Social Work degree so I could focus more on emotional needs with families and individuals.
Beginning to work with a therapist can be a bit scary. I understand that, so I will never push you to areas where you aren’t ready to go, and I will always show respect for the work you are doing. Give yourself some kudos for being here!
